States Logistics Services on the Cutting Edge of Transportation Technology
March 2008Near the close of 2007, States Logistics further enhanced its position as a leader in the application of transportation technology with its purchase of a TruckMate database system. This system provides powerful capabilities to support our wide variety of transportation products and services. Our core mission for the system is the production of timely and accurate billing, so we have maintained a measured and careful approach during the adaptation and implementation process. In addition to billing, the TruckMate platform has many sophisticated functions supporting rating, invoicing, customer service, truck load and LTL operations, dispatch, and back room services, such as OSD. The TruckMate software becomes the central nervous system for our Transportation operations and administration. The modular design allows us to tailor fit the system with top of the line hardware and complimentary software products to meet our customers’ needs. These add-ons include servers from Dell, rating software from Southern Motor Carriers, mileage computing software from MileMaker PC, and more. These products house and take direction from TruckMate to execute various tasks. We like to think of this approach as an “A” team of available components. These components are then implemented and maintained by our in-house staff of Information Technology experts. We have a number of key accounts “on-line” and have completed several rounds of successful billing activity. In addition, we have incorporated EDI functions which, for example, automatically transmit dispatched shipments from various locations directly into the TruckMate database. Our focus is now on creation of reports and invoicing methods that will provide the means to make the transition of additional customers a comparably routine task. Stay tuned.
Casestack Warehouse of the Year
December 2007In 2007 Casestack rolled out the inaugural Warehouse of the Year Award. This was a competition among warehouse partners based on excellence in providing Logistic and Customer services. Participating in the program were all four of the Casestack 3PL warehouse partners as well as our own Casetack facility. The warehouses were scored on eight operational and customer service categories. The award promoted strong competition between all the Regional Warehouses throughout the year. It was a pleasure for Steve Sezna and Dave Walden to announce to States Logistics that they are the winners for 2007. A banner was awarded with a plaque to follow. After a brief award ceremony we sat down enjoyed a meal with several of the States management and staff. Our congratulations to Ryan Donovan, Scott Monson, Eric Monson and Bob Barnhart along with their wonderful staff of administrative and warehouse associates for being the recipient of the inaugural Warehouse of the Year Award. ;

States Logistics Announces New Biodiesel Initiative
October 26, 2006Buena Park, CA – States Logistics Services, Inc. announced today the addition of biodiesel tractors to their transportation fleet operating in southern California. The new biodiesel powered tractors run on B99 biodiesel fuel, which is comprised of a 1% diesel and 99% biodiesel blend. Biodiesel is a clean burning alternative fuel produced from domestic, renewable resources. It contains no petroleum, but can be blended at any level with petroleum diesel to create a biodiesel blend. The alternative fuel can be used in compression-ignition (diesel) engines with little or no modifications. Biodiesel is simple to use, biodegradable, nontoxic, and essentially free of sulfur and aromatics.
The environmental impact of converting tractors to biodiesel is profound. According to research conducted by the National Biodiesel Board, B99 biodiesel reduces harmful emissions by anywhere between 50-90%. Just one States Logistics truck running on biodiesel is the equivalent of removing 18.6 automobiles from the road every day! Ryan Donovan, Vice President of Business Development, commented that “we [States Logistics] have embraced our role as a socially responsible organization, and will continue to work on new initiatives for operating in a way that promotes long-term environmental sustainability.” States Logistics has converted 14% of their current fleet to biodiesel, and has plans to transition 50% of their company operated tractors to biodiesel by 2011.
